Cider, Origin and Philosophy

We are committed to fine cider, with a focus on small-scale producers in France and Italy who share our values of authenticity, terroir, and quality.

 

At SISSELLE, we believe that great taste begins with a deep respect for origin. Whether it’s a bitter cider apple from Normandy or a handcrafted blend from an Italian hillside, we seek out producers whose work is rooted in terroir, seasonality, and craftsmanship. We also produce our own handcrafted ciders in Norway on the Island Nøtterøy under the brand Solgården Sideri, using traditional bitter cider apples, old varieties, and even wild apples from our own orchard on the Island Nøtterøy. The result is a blend of vintage character, Nordic freshness, and deep respect for nature and place.

Norway is undergoing a quiet cider revolution. What was once considered a rustic beverage is now emerging as a refined, terroir-driven category — fuelled by consumer interest in transparency, quality, and local origin. With its cool climate, distinct apple varieties, and a growing network of sommeliers, pommeliers, chefs and conscious consumers, Norway and ist neighbouring countries represent an ideal landscape for premium craft cider. At SISSELLE, we’re proud to be part of shaping this evolution — by helping Nordic audiences discover both local expressions and European excellence.

Events & Tastings

 

Cider is more than a beverage — it’s a cultural and sensory expression. We host guided tastings and educational workshops in Oslo and at Solgården on the Island Nøtterøy, tailored to audiences ranging from curious enthusiasts to sommeliers and HORECA professionals.

These events are designed to highlight the diversity, complexity and beauty of craft cider — from Norwegian vintage apples to French keeved blends and English perry traditions. Every tasting is a conversation about origin, method and meaning.

Whether it’s a private event, a sommelier masterclass or a cultural gathering, our tastings are rooted in knowledge, storytelling and enjoyment.
